How Can I Diet Without Becoming Obsessed With What I Eat?

I am dieting but I feel like I am spending to much time thinking about what I ate or will eat. I also get on the scale like 8-10 times a day. I think it’s making me crazy.

Try this: Remind yourself at least once every hour that YOU are in charge of you and your life. You are not a slave to the scale, and you do not bow down and worship food. To reinforce this, remember that every time you get on the scale you are enslaving yourself to that scale, and every time you give in to the temptation to eat when you’re not hungry or to eat that bad-for-you stuff that should only be eaten every once in a great while, you’re bowing down and worshipping the food. What you’re doing is taking responsibility for your own actions, and it’s actually very liberating when you do because you realize that YOU HAVE THE POWER to reach whatever goal you have set for yourself — weight loss, better health, more strength/endurance, etc.
Yes, you have to eat to live, but eating and thinking about eating don’t have to consume your life. And getting on the scale constantly is NOT going to help you. Weight loss takes time. I recommend that you make a rule that you are not allowed to get on the scale more than once a WEEK and force yourself to stick to it, even if it means throwing out your scale and weighing yourself at the gym or your local health food store once a week. Better yet, take pictures of yourself in a tank-top and shorts every week, but make sure you’re wearing the same tank-top and shorts every time you get your picture taken. Keep the photos and look at them every time you get a new one taken — that way you can SEE the progress you’re making.
Remember, if you want to reach your goals, you need to take responsibility for your own actions and put yourself in charge of your own life. You have the power to say no to the scale and to say no to food you don’t need, so tell yourself that you’re not going to let food and the scale run your life. Take charge and be the person you want to be. Once you set your mind to it, your body will follow.
    Good luck!

if your don’t have low blood pressure you can drink a glass of grapefruit juice every night after your dinner or after breakfast ( consult with your family doctor ) you should lose 2-4 pounds a month and you don’t have to worry about what you should eat , but you ought to reduce on starchy food also, good luck

you can’t, really. dieting almost always leads to that. your best bet is to just try and eat in moderation.. don’t keep track of the food you eat, just be sure to make healthy choices. when you’re grocery shopping or going out to eat, choose the stuff that you know is better for you. :)

Really consider a whole line of recordings my friends and I are using. It covers drinking more water, eating half portions, getting rid of the sugar addiction AND craving exercise. The company is called Independent Achievement and then there’s a fantastic workout program called P90X from a company called Beachbody.com. Keep it up…it’s worth it.

The phrase, "negative calorie food", as highlighted in negative calorie diet programs and books, usually refers to foods that allegedly require more energy to digest than they contain. Since the process of digestion requires the use of calories for energy, sometimes the net amount of metabolizable energy available from a food is less than the gross number of calories contained in the food.
