What Diet Should I Be Eating If I Am Lifting Weights 5 Days A Week?

I weigh around 180 lbs. and am roughly 5′ 11. I’m 16 years old. I take protein bars after my workout, about 20 grams. My diet is usually a couple bowls of cereal and in lunch sandwichs and gatorade. I also realize I consume a lot of Carbs through crackers, bread rolls and waffles and toast.Should I be eating more protein or salads? What do I need for the best possible diet?

You need more protein to maximize the muscle you build. Aim for 180+ grams of protein a day (1g of protein for every lb of bodyweight).
You want lean sources of protein, not ones high in saturated fat. You can get lean protein from chicken breast, turkey breast, extra lean ground beef, skim milk, egg whites, some fish, protein bars, and protein shakes.

A lot of what you’re doing sounds good. More orange juice and protein though. A LOT more protein.

    Protein, protein and more protein.
To build muscle you need protein and it doesn’t sound like you’re getting enough. If you need to supplement it, try taking a post workout whey shake. And more veggies in your diet wouldn’t hurt.
