There was a reason why sailors used to get scurvy, and prisoners of war during WWII had beriberi. This is why people get diseases like gout even today. These are diseases caused by nutritional imbalance.
Your body needs a variety of nutrients: vitamins, minerals, fiber, and water. Fiber helps form the bulk of bowel movements, keeps lipid levels in control in the blood stream, and controls blood sugar. Vitamins (fat and water soluble) and minerals are necessary for your body’s processes. Calcium is important for teeth and bones, as well as muscular contraction. Plant fats help keep your body from storing fat, and provide energy. Protein builds muscle and other tissues. Ever wonder why anorexics and bulimics lose their hair? Lack of protein. Water is a huge component of your body, and if necessary for all processes.
You need these things from food sources to keep yourself intact. You can take a multivitamin, but your body only absorbs so much from tablets. If you eat the same foods every single day, you are missing out on important nutrients and micronutrients. Without those essential things your body can’t work.
