If You Lose Weight Dramatically From A Diet Can You Gradually Start Eating Again Without Losing Weight?

like if you’re eating 300 calories a day until you get your
desired look, can you gradually start to eat normal amount again
without gaining back the weight?

You will definitely gain some weight back. The reason is when you eat such minimal amounts for a prolonged period of time, your metabolism slows down and your body stores everything you eat as fat, since it does not know when your next meal will be. So as you increase in your eating again, it will continue storing as fat for a little, until your body can trust you that you are eating enough. Extreme diets are not healthy and do not work in the long run.

You can try it, but chances are, you are going to gain the weight back no matter what. That is why no ‘miraculous diet’ will work unless you keep using them.
Getting 300 calories a day is starving yourself, and depriving your body of nutrition. It may even go into panic mode and you wont lose weight rapidly at all. We are not made to live off of that few calories, so when you start eating normal again, you are going to gain.(Basically your body will think that you are stranded on a deserted island, so to speak, and needs to conserve it’s fat supply just incase)
The best and right thing to do, perhaps the only thing that really works is to skip the diet, and change your eating habits all together to suit your lifestyle. Eat healthy things, watch the snacking, and portion control. Do not eat if you are not hungry. That’s the best way.
Plus, the average person needs about 2,000 calories a day. But someone who does not exercise that much will need less calories than someone who gets a lot of exercise.

Only eating 300 calories a day is extremely bad for your health, it will mess your body up. While you will lose weight, it’s very unhealthy to do it that way and when you start to eat again you WILL gain the weight back. If you’re gonna lose weight you need to do it the healthy way: eat right (1000-1500 calories a day), get exercise (30 min 3 times a week at least), and stay positive. But please do not eat only 300 calories, because it’s bad for you and you won’t keep that weight off. Diets are life styles not quick fixes.

Doing this is an absolute guarantee to become a yo-yo dieter. Forget dieting at all because going on a diet means you will go off a diet. Just eat healthy. Focus on eating lean meats like chicken, cutting sugar, cutting simple carbohydrates and replace them with whole grains. Make VERY sure that restaurants and snacks aren’t sneaking TONS of calories into things that should be calorie foods like grilled chicken sandwiches. Then exercise. Even if you don’t majorly cut calories you will still look good if you exercise enough to offset the calories from your food. Eat good things first, go ahead and get full, then you won’t have much room for the really unhealthy stuff.

My thoughts is that it is dangerous to do such a thing in the first place.
My guesses would be that you would end up gaining weight again because eating less food than normal will slow down your metabolism, if you get used to eating 300 calories a day your body will not get used to burning more and will either store it as fat or it may just go straight through the person without absorbing nutriments properly.
The abdomen may end up bloated as well, I think.

this one here is an issue of metabolism. so if you lost a lot of weight by eating a lot less without exercise, once you eat normally, you’ll just gain the pounds again. make sure you fire up your metabolism while dieting by making time for some exercise. so once you get your desired look with adequate exercise and diet, you can eat normally again without gaining.

If you came across this question in your mind … please do more research.
300 calories is ridiculous and your body will react by slowing down your metabolism to survive.
Common sense tells everyone to eat 1500 calories and exercise for 3 times 30 minutes at least every week.
This is controlled weight loss and gives you healthy eating patterns which you can use for life.
Eat fruit, vegetables, fish, meat… all the things the earth provided for us before we got fat and lazy.

You wont lose fat at 300 calories a day. Your body goes into starvation mode, and tries its best to hold onto all fat (energy stores) in the body. You lose muscle first. Anorexic girls die when they starve themselves to the point that their bodies start digesting their hearts and other organs.
And yes, once the person began eating normally again they would BALLOON in weight. That ‘diet’ would only do harm to the body. Leaving the person weaker with more fat than before.

Yes. In fact that’s what i did and i am seeing a doctor for an eating disorder and have wrecked my relationship with my mum so PLEASE don’t do this as it’s really addictive and horrifyingly hard to get out of. But i am eating around 900-1000 calories and am still losing weight so i’d have to eat about 1200/1300 to maintain weight but am not ready yet. SO .. basically yeah but don’t do it.

As long as you are burning more calories that you are taking in you will not gain weight. A 1500 calorie diet is the BEST route of going with exercise. You will lose weight healthily and semi quickly, and the chances of it staying off is MUCH higher

I think if you start to eat more without exercise then you will gain the weight. Just make sure you try and work off the extra calories. Jog at night before bed. It’ll help keep the extra weight off.

It depends if your metabolism follows you as you increase your caloric intake. In MOST cases though, you will gain weight if you eat more calories.

If you lost 15 pounds and started to eat gradually, you woudl most likely gain 5 pounds back, no doubt.
