i was recently diagnosed with type II diabetes. in a class that i had to take, they taught us how “everyone” should be eating healthy. the main thing is portion control.
think of a dinner plate. in your mind mark it with a plus sign +. the top 1/2 is for any green, leafy vegetable that you can eat. the bottom left 1/4 is for your protein (meats, eggs, etc) and the bottom right 1/4 is for your starch (bread, potatoes, etc). then add a small diary (yogurt, 8oz glass of milk) and a fruit.
that is how we should all be eating … and this works. it’s not a diet .. it is a lifestyle change. if you eat this way .. you WILL lose weight. good luck!!

you should read up on the matter in books like ‘the abs diet for women’ by david zinczenko or ‘the eat clean diet’ by tosca reno. none of these are “diets” as convention would have it. rather they teach you how to balance your meals properly without having to cut calories majorly or entire food groups. they give you recipes and meal plans to follow so you can get the hang of it and eventually design your own menu.

You are going the right way. Eating a wide range of healthy food ensures the right nutrients. Learn about which foods is simple carbs, high fats, high fibre. I am on low carb, low fat, high fibre, high protein and brisk walking. I have lost 31lbs/14kg and have been maintaining my 108lbs/49kg for more than a year.
All the details in my blog.
