Just Started Healthy Eating/diet And Feel Slightly Sick / Nauseous?

been eating lots recently especially junk food, up to sunday night.
Started healthy eating, Sunday Night. (don’t like to call it a diet) and I feel ever so slightly sick today. I have not had any sweets (well apart from a sugar in a cup of tea).
today i have eaten a brown roll with a bit of coleslaw for brunch as got up late, cup of tea with 1 sugar, banana, healthy ready meal (salmon, seeds and wild rice) and been drinking water no soft drinks. No exercise today just stayed in.
Is sickness a side effect of dieting??

I started healthy diet three months ago under the supervision of my doctor , he said its normal to feel a little sick at the first days(maximum week) because the body will begin disposing the harmful chemicals that gained from canned and non-organic food,
so don’t worry , you will feel much better and more active after that

Your body is adjusting to the new food.

Yes and no. What most people don’t realise is that when they begin a diet, you change the type of food you eat dramatically. This could effect your body in dangerous ways like you’re saying now that you feel sick. Your body is not used to the healthy food so it’s reacting this way. What you should do is start the dieting slowly or you could hurt yourself. I’m not saying go back to your old ways, but still eat close the the amount of what you ate before and steadily reduce the amount or replace the junk food with healthier alternatives that still have roughly the amount of calories or something.

I agree you are going through an adjustment period. Your system is use to getting the “crap” from an unhealthy diet, now it is not getting it’s crap requirement filled. It is a temporary feeling, so don’t abandon your goal to a healthy lifestyle.

It’s a problem with the change of diet. It’s all a bit acid. Try including some yoghurt or probiotic drinks in your diet.

Hi, nope its not normally a side effect. but hunger can make you feel like that. To me it sounds like you didnt have that much today to eat – so that proberly didnt help.

Stick in some more fruit and vegetables, do not eat carbs. that give a quick buzz. Eat brown rice, salads, chicken, if a veggie, just look up the net for some super ideas like dhal,
and other spicy dishes Drink lots of water. Remember you are withdrawing from all the nasties so your system will take a while to get used to a healthy regime. Dieting does not work, eat well and excercise – that gives a buzz as well especially when the lbs. start falling off. Good luck and stick in there.

If you don’t usually eat these types of food, then your body is basically in shock right now. It’s got to get used to processing these foods and “learning” how to use the nutrients found in them to give you energy. Over the next few days, you may continue to feel like this, but it will wear off eventually.

it could be a side effect from eating all the junk food, your body might not know whats happening especially if the food you ate today is not normally what you would have. i dont really know why you feel sick. i started healthy eating a few wks ago i think i mite have felt kinda the same once i started.
i wouldnt worry unless you start to feel worse, id say its just from eating poorly at the weekend
you shouldnt feel sick when dieting unless your eating too little and not the right food, make sure you get a healthy balance in your diet

Could be sugar withdrawals. Maybe your body’s rebelling from having no junk. Our flesh wants what it wants. Good for you for changing your eating habits! Could simply be you picked up a sickness bug, too.
